Me

Hi!

My name is Tavio, my friends call me Doc (among many many other things). This site is my intranets brain and spirit. Welcome to my assault machine.

I am an artist/animator in Atlanta. I like a lot of things. Hopefully you'll get a glimpse of these things as you peruse the site.

To start from the beginning, I was born and raised in New Orleans. I grew up right here in New Orleans East, and moved to Lakeview right before I started high school at Benjamin Franklin. My sophomore year of high school I was accepted into the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) for visual arts. Half my days were spent at regular school and after lunch it was off to NOCCA for some intensive, vigorous visual art training. My junior and senior years of high school were continued at NOCCA but I transfered from Franklin to Eleanor McMain Magnet. Summer before senior year I was accepted into SCAD's Rising Star program and got the chance to collect some college credits. In 1996 I graduated both schools and was accepted with a full academic scholarship to University of New Orleans and also to Savannah College of Art & Design with a few smaller scholarships. Freshman year of college was spent at UNO goofing off on the Lakefront and racking up liberal arts classes in anticipation of SCAD. 1997 found me in Savannah at Dyson House jumping feet first into a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Art with a specific track of 2D Animation. SCAD was an unbelievable experience.

May of 2000 I graduated SCAD and moved back down to New Orleans. Siggraph happened to be in my home town that year (the most amazing convention EVER) and I networked and job faired it up as well as saw the most amazing technology demos and exhibits. A job fair meeting with a certain gaming publisher and developer eventually landed me a job.

From 2000 to 2004 I worked in New Jersey for a video game company doing all kinds of awesome jobs. Between making concept drawings and storyboards, level designs, animations, package design and layouts, sprites and game graphics, I had the chance to meet a lot of heavy hitters in the video game industry and destroy a lot of them in some uber intense LAN Deathmatches. While up north I claimed NYC, lower Manhattan, as my stomping ground. That's where I purchased my first turntables and mixers, and where my vinyl collection, music production, mixing and turntablist love blossomed (I <3 You TurntableLab).

Late 2004, and too many ridiculously cold winters later, the winds drifted me into Atlanta. While mostly freelancing I have also taught at a local college as an adjunct faculty in the Graphic Design and Game Art curriculums. Now I just make totally awesome stuff and roll with my ninja crew. You can also find me serving you up on some Smash Bros or GTA IV - just get at me.
