Qik is a bad ass new video recording application for the IPhone 3G. Here's a quick setup tutorial to get your jailbroken buddy ready to go. 1) You need to jailbreak your IPhone. If you've already done so proceed to step 2. 2) To get Qik working you need to sign up to their site. Part of the sign up process is receiving a text message from them to verify your 3) Create your account at http://qik.com/sign_up 4) Once you finish up you will be presented with a config screen to guide you through the rest of the process. You should soon get a text message from Qik giving you a link to click and a message that you need a data plan to proceed. DO NOT DELETE THIS TEXT MESSAGE. 5) Jump on your IPhone and start up Cydia. You're going to install the Qik app by browsing to the Sections -> Multimedia -> Qik and pressing Install. 6) Once it's finished installing it's time to launch Qik. Jump to the Qik Icon on your IPhone and launch it. If you're a spaz and something weird happened, just go back to your original text message and confirm participation by going to the link in the text. If that doesn't work, and you can't find or you deleted your original SMS from Qik, go to your profile (http://qik.com/your-username), where your-username is the user name you signed up with. On the left hand side, under the profile picture, you have the option to Reinstall Qik. Do it. 7) Before you start going recording crazy you may want to check out the options settings. You can change the resolution (320x240 and 176x144) and the Optimazation (Max Quality and Min delay) by hitting the i icon on the bottom right of the screen. When you are all setup just hit the REC Red Button at the bottom center of the screen, and you will instantly start streaming live video to your qik account. Please take note that your first video will be public and viewable by all, so use discretion!Once you're logged in you can change this option. You can also change your privacy toggle from the IPhone Qik Settings. 8) Go record some stuff. The really cool thing about Qik is that it's a video streaming service, your video will show up instantaneously on Qik's site. Other people will be able to watch your streams live while you are recording. Your videos are also held on Qik's servers, so you don't need to worry about taking up space on your precious IPhone hard drive. You can also save your videos into iTunes for off-line viewing whenever you want. Try it out! Here's a video I took of my fishes.
